Whether you’re on the east or west side of the building\, you are guaranteed a changing view across the Estuary\, along with some space to think. \nThere are three desks available per day. If you miss out on booking one\, please check back regularly here on Eventbrite for cancellations. \nPlease note – we are restricting bookings to a maximum of two days per writer\, to ensure that the opportunity is afforded to as many writers as possible. \nBook a hot desk here.\nSee the full Essex Writers House programme here. \nAccess to the Writers Hot Desks\nThe desks are all located in our Attic Studio\, accessible via lift or stairs from our ground floor. There are gender neutral W/Cs on both the attic and ground floor. Chalkwell Hall has a ramp at the front entrance. There is a free car park on site\, which is open 24/7.\nPlease ring our doorbell on arrival so we can greet you.

You will be surrounded by plants\, bird song and open air\, it’s a quiet invitation to slow down and reconnect with your ideas in nature. \nPlease note – this desk is for analogue writing only – So please bring a notebook\, a journal\, or sketchbook. DESCRIPTION:Come and be part of The Kinetic Audio Band’s Art + Sound Literacy Salon as we create… \nSonic Chapbooks #1: Routes (A Work In Progress)\n\nA three-part art\, sound and writing salon exploring how listening and sound experimentation can inspire and complement your narrative. \nUsing the Essex Writers’ House theme of ‘Routes’\, we’ll explore ideas surrounding journeys\, place\, movement\, return and more\, through deep listening\, sound mapping\, recording\, writing prompts\, text and graphic score exploration. \nParticipants will develop a new work-in-progress piece\, creating a handmade ‘Sonic’ Chapbook that combines text\, visuals and audio links. \nInspired by the DIY spirit of historic chapbooks and Beat writers\, this is a space to test ideas\, experiment freely in a supportive salon setting. \nThe sessions will take place at Chalkwell Hall on Thursday 4 June\, Thursday 11 June and Thursday 18 June\, running from 6.30pm – 8.30pm (with the final session running until 9.30/10pm). \n£45 total for all three sessions inc booking fee.
