SUMMARY:Future Station: Rest (Is A Political Act)
DESCRIPTION:For our next Future Station event we are pleased to welcome artist Niki Colclough to host a workshop to explore the value of rest\, linking to our wider theme of Care in the Arts. \nRest (Is A Political Act) is a workshop in a series created by Niki Colclough. Join us to speculate on new strategies for re-framing and re-prioritising rest in a society orientated towards productivity.  \nIn an act of collective care we will explore alternative understandings of and approaches to work\, reframe laziness as a creative tool and contemplate societal/political structures of wellbeing.  \nNiki will share her research in progress alongside a bespoke tool designed to introduce the 7 types of rest\, together we will consider the types of rest we might need before dreaming up joint strategies for implementation.  \nThe event is designed for those working precariously in the creative industries who would like to work towards more joy and sustainability in their working practices. This is a relaxed and interactive session where contributions and thoughts on the topic are welcomed.  \nBook your free tickets here.

SUMMARY:Artist Sharing: Charlie Barlow
DESCRIPTION:Come join local artist Charlie Barlow on Wednesday 15 February from 5pm\, for her sharing and discussion of new work\, ‘Now and Yesterday’.   \nCharlie has created textile works using materials of the mass media – everyday newspapers and digital phone notifications. She’s been exploring ways in which constant flows of information are presented\, experienced and absorbed by the mind. The works range from large double sheet spreads to a hand-held scale\, and each piece is weaved by hand into patterns as once clear imagery becomes distorted in complex layers.  \nThis is a work in progress sharing and\, Charlie is keen to gain feedback from those who attend as to develop the work further. \nBook here.
