SUMMARY:Objects of Affection: Creative Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Objects of Affection: Creative writing workshop with Izzie Major \n“The creative mind plays with the objects it loves” – Carl Jung \nSunday 5 November\, 2-5pm (including 20 minute break) at Metal Liverpool \nA creative writing workshop unlocking the creative power of ‘things’. Using objects as inspiration for creative writing\, Izzie will lead a series of playful automatic writing exercises and improvisations aimed at awakening the subconscious\, encouraging participants to both be and create with their chosen objects. Using a mixture of play\, ritual and dream-theory\, participants will be led to connect sensuously with their objects\, revealing potential inner/outer worlds\, dreams and fantasies\, exploring the object’s vital presence and what this may reveal to us about our own innermost desires and sense of humanity. \nFor the final section of the workshop\, we will have the opportunity to perform our writings and creative actions to one another. \nPlease select an object from your home that you would like to connect a little deeper with and bring it with you. Perhaps something you don’t understand (like an uncomfortable pillow) or something you have a long and complicated relationship with (like a piece of cutlery). Participants should bring an object from their home they do not mind others handling or working with. \nNew writers and established writers welcome. \nTo book\, please visit the link here. Limited to 20 places. \n“Under this mask\, another mask. I will never be finished removing all these faces” – Claude Cahun \n“For beauty to work\, there must be a surface capable of receiving the wound.” ― Timothy Morton \nNote: Metal Liverpool has step-free access to the rear of platform 1-2. \nAbout the artist \n \nIzzie Major is a performance artist whose work explores the absurd\, the ritualistic\, the macabre\, the feminine and the grotesque. She has a current obsession and love/hate relationship with domesticity\, it’s strange and questionable role in humanity. She is passionate about bringing extraordinary artistic experiences to non-theatre spaces and community settings.  \nIzzie’s creative practice has its roots in improvisation\, automatism\, immersion\, surrealism\, play\, chance and mystery.  She has worked with a range of arts organisations including Hope Street Limited\, Tate Liverpool\, Capstone Theatre\, Unity Theatre\, Liverpool Biennial\, Bluecoat and most recently Sisters Hope in Denmark. Her latest show The Bedroom will showcase in February 2024\, in a bedroom of the iconic Adelphi Hotel.  \n \nTickets available on Eventbrite – click or tap to visit the link.

SUMMARY:Metal New Artist Network: Share\, Show\, Tell with Kate Marsh
DESCRIPTION:Got an idea for the start of a project? Want to get some feedback about something you’re working on? For our final Metal New Artist Network session of the year\, we’re welcoming dance artist\, researcher and producer Kate Marsh for an informal online sharing session.  \n  \nThere will be space to talk about what projects you’re working on\, any ideas you might have\, problems you’ve encountered as an artist\, and to network with other creatives to build your own artist connections.   \n  \nKate will open the session with an icebreaker\, before sharing about her own practice and experience of being an artist\, academic and producer. The digital floor is then open to you! Feel free to ask questions\, share your screen\, tell people what you’re up to and ask for support. Kate will facilitate the session so you can focus on sharing.  \n  \nWondering what to share? It could be:  \n– An idea for a piece/performance\n– An artist bio you’ve been working on\n– Questions around funding applications\n– Finding collaborators for a project\n– Top tips you’ve discovered being an artist\n– Feedback on an idea or piece of work  \nIf you’re unsure about sharing but don’t want to miss out on the conversation\, you can still come along and listen. We would love to have your input if you would like to feed in.  \n  \nFormat\nThe session will run for 75 minutes\, and if you’d like to share\, you’ll be given a 3-5 minute slot. If you would prefer to provide us with the information in advance so we can share your work from our screens\, please get in touch. Remember\, there is no pressure to share something.   \n  \nAbout Kate Marsh\nKate Marsh is a disabled dance artist-researcher and producer. She is an associate producer at Metal and a researcher fellow at C-DaRE (Centre for Dance Research at Coventry University).
