SUMMARY:Out With A Bang Party
DESCRIPTION:Hold off those tears and the violins… Metal Peterborough is moving out of Chauffeurs Cottage with a BIG bang\, and you’re invited! \nGet your glad rags on and let the music play\, join us for an evening of dancing and drinks as we celebrate\, remember and toast to the future. \nWe’ve called Chauffeurs Cottage home for over ten years. It’s been a place of creation\, experimentation\, community\, sharing\, friendship\, art\, food and love\, so let’s see it Out With a Bang! \nHosting the evening will be the fierce and fab Rhys’s Pieces. They’re one of London’s most-loved and likeable drag divas! Bringing sass and panache to any event with her stunning performances\, insane looks and big bag of pop tracks that has everything from Queen\, to Beyonce\, original raps\, to politically charged pieces and back again. Expect performances\, games\, and a catwalk or two! \nAnd what’s a party without some music? Providing us with the tracks to keep us dancing into the night is artist and DJ Byron Vincent. As Disco Neurotico’s resident DJ\, Byron Vincent has ignited dancefloors across the UK’s top venues and festivals. Expect riffs you recognise in remixes you don’t. Byron has a love for all genres with a focus on underground club anthems from hands in the air disco-house classics to electro and tech-house floor-fillers. \nOur foyer walls are open for your memories. Local artist Fiona Cifaldi has created a gorgeous blackboard mural so you can share your favourite moments from Chauffeurs history and what a future art space in Peterborough should look like. \nThe when and the where? \n\nDate: Saturday 30 November\nTime: 7pm – 10pm\nLocation: Chauffeurs Cottage\, St Peters Road\, Peterborough PE1 1YX\nDress code: Sparkle if you like\, or just keep it casual\n\nCome along and raise a glass to the end of an era and help us go Out With a Bang! RSVP here so we can get the party hats ready. \nIn the build-up to the party\, check out the rest of the events in our What’s Possible When Things Go Wrong programme here. \nWhat’s Possible When Things Go Wrong\nMetal and the other organisations based at Chauffeurs Cottage will be leaving in December. It wasn’t our decision and it’s one we’re still trying to get our heads around\, but we’re working hard to find a new space in the city that will be just as wonderful\, whilst celebrating all the magical moments we’ve spent here. \nBeing thrown into this situation has made us reflect on ‘necessity as a mother of invention’ – being faced with a challenging situation and being inspired to create a new imaginative solution. It’s made us dream about inspiring futures and what a queer\, accessible\, anti-racist space would look like from scratch.

SUMMARY:Hosted at Metal Liverpool: John Zorn's Cobra (Liverpool Gathering Orchestra)
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by AMQH (whi music) at Metal’s Platform 1 building\, the Liverpool Gathering Orchestra will perform John Zorn’s infamous game piece Cobra at the close of its 40th anniversary year – and on Winter Solstice. The fun part? This piece of music can be extremely long or really quite short…rock up and find out which way this still-novel composition goes. Whatever the direction\, it’s bound to be play-full. \nFrom AMQH: \n“John Zorn wrote Cobra in 1984. It is a game piece\, involving cards\, gestures and headgear to direct and shape improvisations\, providing a framework for the music without inhibiting the players. Hopefully. \nThe LGO are ten of the finest local improvising musicians tackling Zorn’s rarely-performed piece. We didn’t have the budget to get Zorn himself over\, but do come and hear his composition.” \nThis will be the last event at Metal Liverpool for the rest of this year – on the shortest day\, no less – come to experience live musical spontaneity in all its unfettered\, humourous\, and raw glory. \nDoors 7.30pm\, music starts at 8pm. \nTickets are £7\, and £5 concessions \nAdvance tickets for AMQH / whi music events are available here. \nPlease note: This event is ‘hosted at’ Metal Liverpool and as such functions outside of Metal’s core programme. For more information on the organisers\, please visit their website here. For more information about Metal and what we do with our public programme\, click here.
