SUMMARY:POSTPONED: Hosted at Metal Liverpool: WEȽ∝KER and Lola De La Mata live
DESCRIPTION:This event is currently postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. Apologies for any inconvenience and a new date is being explored. \nHosted at Metal Liverpool\, join experimental musicians WEȽ∝KER (pronounced ‘WET LOCKER’) and Lola De La Mata for two special performances at Edge Hill Station. \nWEȽ∝KER are Manchester duo Guillaume Dujat and Joe Beedles\, exploring the outer edges of computer music that is playful and tactile. The sounds presented on their last record ENHANCER evoke a strange warmth\, shimmering and stretching with the intuition of acoustic improvisation. \nLola De La Mata is a composer\, sound artist and curator based between Liverpool and London. Her recent album Oceans on Azimuth was released to much acclaim\, reflecting on years of research and embodied experience on tinnitus and the architecture of our ears. Her live performances explore sonic illusions and incorporate dance and motion\, collaborating with artists such as Eve Stainton\, Rosie Terry Toogood among others. \nPerformances start at 8pm. \nThis event will contain smoke and laser\, and at times loud volume and high-pitched sounds. \nPlease note: this event is ‘Hosted at’ Metal Liverpool and functions outside of our programme as a dry hire. For more information on the organisers\, please visit their website here. For more information about Metal and our public programme\, please visit the What’s On page here.

SUMMARY:Hosted at Metal Liverpool: Rockers (1978) film screening and discussion [new date]
DESCRIPTION:New date: This event was due to take place on Thursday 8 August\, we’re happy to announce its rescheduled date as this Thursday 15 August. \nHosted at Metal Liverpool\, Black Girl Watching Film Club in collaboration with LADFN presents a screening of Rockers (1978) followed by a discussion about the film. \nLegendary reggae artists play themselves in this exuberant tale of struggle and triumph. Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace and Richard “Dirty Harry” Hall recruit a “Robin-Hood” band of friends to get even with some oppressive mafia types. \nWhat began as a documentary about the reggae scene in the 1970s and turned into a feature length film\, Rockers is a great lightning in a bottle film with a stellar cast of iconic Jamaican musicians. Not only is it a fantastic film with an amazing soundtrack but it also encapsulates this era of music in an extraordinary way. To celebrate Jamaican Independence Day\, Black Girl Watching Film Club presents a screening of this film on Thursday 8 August with a post-screening discussion. Come along\, have some bun and cheese and share your thoughts. \nRunning order: \n6:30pm: Doors open and refreshments are served\n7:15pm: Rockers begins (Runtime 1 hour 40 minutes)\n9:00pm: Post-screening discussion \nTickets start from £1 – grab yours now. \nWatch the Rockers trailer here.
