From 23 October to 29 November, Dream Space will breathe new life into an empty shop unit in the corner of Queensgate, transforming it into a vibrant community hub for reading, reflection, and creative exchange in the heart of Peterborough. At the centre of Dream Space is our Pop-Up Reading Room – a place where ideas are cooked up, books are shared, and conversations spark. Alongside this, we’ll offer a packed programme of events and workshops and the opportunity to co-design a new pop-up reading room structure to live on beyond the project.

Dream Space – Pop-Up Reading Room
Over the next six weeks, we invite you to drop in, browse, and spend time in our Dream Space and pop-up Reading Room to explore a rich mix of publications that offer inspiration, provoke thought, and open up new ways of seeing the world. The Reading Room is a temporary home for a beloved collection of books from Pluto Press, Left Book Club, and artists that many of you may remember from our time at Chauffeurs Cottage. These books have been packed away in boxes — but now, they’re back, ready to be rediscovered in a brand-new setting.
The Reading Room isn’t just a library — it’s a springboard. A backdrop for workshops, discussions, social gathering — all designed to bring people together and spark new ideas.

We also invite you to join in with our creative programme to explore themes of power and democracy, connection and solidarity, creating and making space, and positive futures. Come along to free events including:
- Workshops and creative sessions
- Social gatherings
- Artist talks and advice sessions
Ideas from these events and conversations will inspire the design of something new — a modular, mobile Reading Room structure, co-designed with artists Alternative School of Economics & Re Collective and built with help from local community groups. The aim is that this structure will live on beyond the pop-up and enable us to take it out into the city.
