    Residencies Christopher Samuel

    Christopher Samuel

    December 9, 2025 by

A black man with a mustache and goatee beard, very short hair and clear glasses is smiling and looking at something off camera. He is wearing a black nike shirt and has some tattoos with words just visible under his shirt and on his arms. He is stitting in a chair with a head support / head rest and back support.

Christopher Samuel is joining us for a residency as part of In Other Words 3. He is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice is rooted in identity and disability politics. Often echoing the many facets of his own lived experience as a Black disabled man, his work tells stories, highlighting the often unseen experiences of his day to day life and those of others in similar circumstances.

His practice includes small, detailed ink drawings, film, print, audio, research, and large installations. He works alongside galleries, museums, archives and other institutions to address missing representation in our cultural spaces.

    About Christopher’s Residency

During his residency, Christopher will be exploring the impact of the Access to Work funding cuts on disabled people and disabled people of colour (POC). Christopher will research the barriers that disabled people face trying to work in the current climate and find real lived stories and experiences of disabled people and disabled POC. He’ll use the research to create a piece of work which will be both a digital and physical piece.

This residency is part of the In Other Words project.
