Nikki Blaze & Tony Broke (Liverpool Hip Hop Festival)

    October 18, 2023 by

    Nikki Blaze

Nikki Blaze (also known as Nicola Gina Duzant-Hayden Wallace) is an illustrator, performing artist, performance skills coach, recording artist and songwriter who has worked with many organisations locally and internationally. Based in Liverpool UK and New York City, her work is a reflection of her imagination and the environment around her. Having come from a family of artists Nikki has been around art her entire life. Raised in Toxteth by her mother and father in the ’80s and ’90s Nikki was heavily involved in an artistic scene that had grown from political events such as the 1981 Riots and other movements of working-class Hip Hop culture. In the early 2000s Nikki would fall in love with the art scene of NYC. This is where she would find great contacts and opportunities, such as having her music played on radio shows and having her artwork exhibited at Comic Con, Jacob Javits Centre Manhattan.

As too many people die with their art still in them, art is to be shared to the world and shown for all to enjoy. Nikki likes her work to be big, bold and colourful.

    Tony Broke / TL

Tony Broke (also known as TL) has been involved in the Liverpool rap music scene for 20 years and has built up a reputation for being a passionate, energetic, and enthusiastic performer. Tony was inspired as a child, like many in the UK electro music scene, by films like ‘Wild Style’ and ‘Beat Street’ which sparked a love of B-Boying (break-dance). This was the catalyst that would lead to a career in rap performing and running workshops.

He has worked with many musicians and DJs from around the city and has gigged locally, nationally and internationally throughout Europe and the Caribbean.

The arts have given TL the chance to make a career out of the music he loves, and he enjoys seeing young people develop skills and confidence through Hip Hop workshops.
