    Rupert-Lawrence Worth

    January 8, 2024 by

Rupert-Lawrence Worth, affectionately known as Ru, stands as a captivating force within the realm of multidisciplinary creativity. Hailing from an industrial council estate in the West Country, Ru embodies the essence of a remarkable queer, working-class, and non-binary artist, pushing the boundaries of artistic expression.

Founder and Artistic Director of ‘Tailwind Physical Theatre,’ Ru emerges as a visionary, weaving together eclectic ensemble works that transcend conventional norms and captivate audiences with their profound commitment to addressing pressing environmental and socio-economic issues. The stage becomes a canvas where Ru’s creativity flourishes, leaving spectators entranced by the transformative power of their productions.

Beyond the spotlight of their own creations, Ru assumes various roles in the artistic landscape, showcasing versatility as a movement director, teacher, puppeteer, dancer, facilitator, intimacy coordinator, producer, and theatre maker. The breadth of Ru’s talent has been enriched by collaborations with renowned companies such as Gecko Theatre, Babel Theatre, The Paper Puppet Company, and Bearface Theatre.

Ru extends their influence into the realm of education and community engagement, offering workshops that serve as a unique toolkit of devising techniques. These workshops cater to multifaceted creatives, schools, universities and community groups, empowering individuals to create work of high standards, rich detail and transformative impact.

As a resident artist at esteemed venues like Ugly Duck and Metal, Ru finds a space to nurture and evolve their artistic vision. Their presence in the NSDF Theatre Lab at Camden People’s Theatre further solidifies Ru’s standing as a trailblazer in the contemporary arts scene, where innovation and inclusivity converge seamlessly.
