Structural Change Artist – Deadline: 18 July

We’re thrilled to share that Metal Culture has been awarded a Paul Hamlyn Foundation Arts Fund grant. It’s an honour to be recognised in such an inspiring cohort of artists and organisations. Learn more about them here.

The funding is to support The Unlonely City, a 10-year arts programme disrupting loneliness, facilitating moments of solidarity, surprise and laughter across our cities in Liverpool, Peterborough and Southend. Through a series of artistic commissions, citizen assemblies, public conversations and more; The Unlonely City seeks to imagine what an Unlonely city could be.

As part of the programme, Metal is looking for a Structural Change Artist to join Metal’s staff team for 3 years on a PAYE contract.

We’re looking for a Structural Change Artist as part of our long-term aim to inspire positive change through art and creativity. We want an artist to lead learning and reflection through artistic practice exploring how Metal can reimagine systems of power, knowledge and equity in our programmes, organisational development and the places we work.

The role will be a fixed term PAYE contract to work with us as an artist from August 2025 for 3 years. It is open to artists of any discipline, including visual arts, performance, social practice, writing, sound, digital, or interdisciplinary work, with a track record of engaging with themes such as social justice or climate justice.

You can find more details including the job description here:

The deadline for applications is Friday 18th July.
