“South Africa from a Black perspective… it’s about time.” – Spike Lee
Hosted at Metal Liverpool, members of LADFN are screening a new 4K restoration of Mapantsula – a classic of guerilla filmmaking produced under extreme censorship.
The film is screening on Thursday 16 May at Edge Hill Station to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Freedom Day, which commemorates the first post-apartheid elections to take place in South Africa in 1994.

Event running order:
6:30pm – Doors open. Hot drinks and nibbles will be served before the screening.
7.15pm – Mapantsula with introduction
9pm – Q&A/Discussion with special guests, Mosa Mpetha (Cinema Africa!), Amber Akaunu (Story Lab)
