Are you an artist / creative looking to network, share your latest projects, or simply connect with like-minded individuals? Come along to our next at Get a Room Social at Metal Peterborough – space for the creative community to come together, spark new ideas, and collaborate. 

In our pop-up Dream Space in Queensgate, join artist Lawrence Becko to explore the Dream Access Terminal. Built from vintage computer components and analogue music equipment, this interactive installation will playfully reimagine what it might mean to generate and browse dreams.  

Participants are invited to explore a world of 8-bit dreamscapes, retro sci-fi visuals, and video game–inspired animations — the artist’s own collection of digital ‘dreams’ created since his SPILL festival Residency in 2024. As you move through the space, you’ll encounter mellow ambient soundtracks and dreampop cassette players to accompany your journey, creating a sensory mix of nostalgia and imagination.  

The evening will also feature a live ambient DJ set by Lawrence, blending low-tech loops and gentle electronic soundscapes inspired by imaginary worlds and surreal encounters. Expect conversation prompts, a touch of nostalgia, and the chance to share your own dream stories — from the strangest places you’ve visited to the unexpected people you’ve met there.

This event is part of Metal’s Dream Space, which will breathe new life into an empty shop unit in the corner of Queensgate, transforming it into a vibrant hub for reading, reflection, dreaming for the future and creative exchange in the heart of Peterborough.  At the centre of Dream Space is our Pop-Up Reading Room – a place where ideas are cooked up, books are shared, and conversations spark. Alongside this, we’re offering a packed programme of events and workshops and the opportunity to co-design a new pop-up reading room structure to live on beyond the project.
