    Residencies Jasmine Kelly-Gobuiwang

    Jasmine Kelly-Gobuiwang

    October 25, 2022 by

Jasmine Kelly-Gobuiwang’s work explores the environments that she comes across in day-to-day life. Her home and routine commutes, as well as her surroundings, offering up a limitless supply of objects and materials to work with.

Kelly brings new life to items that were once forgotten and overlooked, and through a mixture of conventional and non-conventional mediums; she paints, dyes, and reworks these materials within her space. Through Kelly’s pieces and installations, she shares her experience of humankind; the beauty, destruction, choices, and actions taken every day.

Kelly highlights the importance of process and change in human life. Ephemerality is something we all experience, and the natural, transitory essence of life which Kelly captures in her work is a reminder that everything is interchangeable. The work is intended to raise questions and encourage the audience to reassess their view of the world.

During her residency, Jasmine will be creating installations out of natural dyes and reusable fabrics. She will be filming, performing and photographing in these spaces, as well as testing and exploring her artistry.
