We’re delighted to welcome our next Listen Residency artist Josh Coates!
Following the success of our first residency with Victoria Opomu exploring young people’s experiences of growing up in Edge Hill, Wavertree and Toxteth, we’ve invited Josh to create some pop-up experiences in unusual places around Edge Hill.
Josh Coates (he/him) is a theatre maker and community organiser based in Liverpool. He makes work with people about people, giving space for stories to be told in experimental and experiential forms for audiences. He uses autobiography and the gut reactions to political events, and mixes them with popular culture to create a distinctive personal style. When he’s not in a rehearsal room, he works with Homebaked Community Land Trust in Anfield, creating events that bring neighbours together for a chat over a brew.

Listen Residencies are part of our programme for the year, focusing on placing artist residencies in unexpected places within our community. This experimental series of residencies will invite artists to make connections outside of the arts sector to build new partnerships and to bring artists’ projects into different contexts.
