In March, the debut of Izzie Major’s residency project with us CURTAINS CURTAINS CURTAINS CURTAINS CURTAINS was performed to a sell-out crowd for Angel Field Festival with support from Arts Council England & Liverpool Hope University.
Somewhere beyond the darkness, through the velvet curtains, there lies an unseen and mysterious realm – a place where the domestic has formed new life; where pillows talk, teacups clink in bitter jealousy, the wallpaper dances and the promising light of The Lamp leads the way.”
Creating a surreal immersive world inhabited by a range of bizarre characters, Curtains… is informed by Izzie’s close collaboration with professional and emerging artists, as well as groups of local women through creative writing and performance workshops exploring themes of gender, home and reimagine our relationship with domesticity.
The show was co-created with Craig Sinclair, and this short film adaptation was made by Craig and Chris Jenkins.
Izzie is continuing her project with weekly Surrealist creative writing workshops at Tomorrow’s Women Wirral, with more workshops soon to be announced as a collaboration with us supported by Eleanor Rathbone charitable fund.
