As part of our Remote Residencies programme, our team in Southend have been working with Southend for Black Lives Matter.
This group emerged in response to the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, mobilising to bring together our local community to make a stand against racism through socially distant protests, vigils and performances which encourage discussion and education.
Here you can watch Voices for Change – a short film which discusses racism through a combination of interview and performances.
Made in partnership with SACSA (Southend Art Collective for Social Change), with support from Metal Southend, Focal Point Gallery and filmmakers Gabrielle Milanese and Paul Bates.
