Book a slot within our Essex Writers House edition of Open Advice Sessions

Thursday 6, 13, 20 and 27 June.
11am-12noon, 12.30pm-1.30pm, 2.30pm-3.30pm and 4pm-5pm.

These free sessions are available for Essex writers of all genres and experience levels. Book an hour-long slot, with a panel of the Metal team and our associate writers, to discuss your writing practice, talk through ideas, find signposting to references and opportunities or simply get feedback on your works in progress.

We’re offering these sessions in person at Chalkwell Hall, as well as the option to discuss your work with us online. There is one session available per artist and the slots are 1 hour long.

Who is the offer for?
Our Open Advice Sessions are open to writers working in any genre, at any stage of their career. Individuals, collaborations or collectives can book a slot. Bookings are limited to one slot per writer. You must live or work in, or have a strong connection to South Essex (Basildon, Brentwood, Castle Point, Rochford, Southend-on-Sea, Thurrock)

We are also pleased to be partnering with National Centre for Writing within this series of Open Advice Sessions

This June, Metal Southend will become a house for writers to read, to write overlooking the Thames Estuary, to get help and feedback on your work or to have lively, meandering conversations with other writers.

You can book a writing desk, join a writing group for sharing and solidarity, meet our writers in residence or have an advice session with Metal and our associate writers.

This is the seventh edition of Essex Writers House and we’re always amazed by the connections made and the ideas that come up when writers take over this special building.
