Planting and Placemaking (Irlam) with artist Zhuozhang Li

    May 19 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

    Free

Join us for a creative workshop exploring the stories and histories of community gardens along the Liverpool and Manchester railway on Sunday 19 May at Lady James’ Hall from 1pm-3pm!

Planting and Placemaking Project (PPP) is a participatory mapping project by Zhuozhang Li that focuses on and celebrates community-based railway gardens along the Liverpool-Manchester railway. Are you an artist, gardener, eco-activist, community gardener or nature enthusiast? We’re gathering at Lady James’ Hall in Irlam to share and exchange knowledge about ‘planting and placemaking’ at a site-specific workshop.

Through PPP, Zhuozhang aims to ‘geographically re-connect the railway gardens between Liverpool and Manchester, socially re-build a bridge between local communities and cultural organisations, and together, re-imagine an alternative relationship among community, nature and urban infrastructure’. A creative activity will be led by artist Becky Peach, with support from researcher Marwa Al Khalidi.

Book your free tickets here. A travel bursary is available for participants. Please contact edgehill@metalculture.com for more information.

This project follows on from Zhuozhang’s Metal residency in 2022.

The project is a knowledge exchange project funded by the University for the Creative Arts.
