I’m Viviana and joined Metal in April 2026. I spent my childhood in a small town in Puglia, in the South of Italy, surrounded by rural life. Summers meant travelling and learning about other cultures. I went on to study in Naples, Oviedo, Milan, Trento, and Loughborough, and worked as an independent curator, supporting access to contemporary art by transforming disused and domestic spaces into temporary art centres. Culture is everywhere and can take place anywhere. I have been dedicated to socially-engaged practices from my first projects and in all of my professional posts since. The project that really made me follow Metal was Lucy + Jorge Orta, ‘Food’ which inspired me while working as Public Engagement Curator at the Centre for Contemporary Arts: Glasgow. If I were a song I would be a pizzica song, one that embodies the melody and rhythm of the land I come from.
