Who We Are Preen Chakadonha (She/Her/They)

    Preen Chakadonha (She/Her/They)

    April 15, 2026 by

Hello, I’m Preen (pronounced like green but with a P). I’m a Knowledge Manager at Wellcome Trust and the Director of Black and Being Essex CIC, a community organisation and directory celebrating Black-owned businesses and creating social spaces for Black and mixed-race women and non-binary people across Essex. I’ve spent the last decade working in tech and knowledge management, building systems, processes and communities that help people share ideas and create meaningful change. I’m naturally both creative and analytical, and I love working at the intersection of culture, community and technology. I’m particularly passionate about widening access to arts and cultural spaces, supporting grassroots initiatives, and helping organisations grow sustainably and inclusively. I’m so excited to bring my experience in community building, digital strategy and governance to Metal’s mission of placing artists at the heart of social change. Outside of work you’ll usually find me reading, writing, watching far too much TV and movies, exploring Essex with friends, or planning my next creative project.
